Ali Wallace

Alexis Nicole "Ali" Wallace (born September 8, 1993) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from Portland, Oregon, who was crowned Miss Oregon 2015. She competed for the Miss America 2016 title in September 2015. Her mother, Tammy Fazzolari Wallace, was crowned Miss Oregon 1987.
Pageant career
Early pageants
As a teen, Wallace entered the Miss America system by vying for the title of Miss Oregon's Outstanding Teen. She was chosen as Miss Washington County Teen 2010.<ref name="bevt150630"/> The next year, Wallace was named Miss Sunset's Outstanding Teen 2011 and was later picked as first runner-up for the state title.<ref name="msorot11co"/><ref name="msorot11re"/>
Entering the adult pageant world, Wallace won the Miss Mt. Hood title in April 2013.<ref name="msmh13wi"/> She competed in the 2013 Miss Oregon pageant with the platform "Traumatic Brain Injury Education and Awareness" and a dance performance in the talent portion of the competition.<ref name="msam2013"/><ref name="msor13co"/> She was a Top 10 finalist for the state title.<ref name="msor13re"/> Wallace did not compete in the 2014 Miss Oregon pageant.<ref name="bevt150630"/><ref name="msam2014"/>
Miss Oregon 2015
On March 28, 2015, Wallace was crowned Miss Miss Portland 2015.<ref name="ptrb150623"/><ref name="ptrb150702"/> She entered the Miss Oregon pageant at the Seaside Civic and Convention Center in Seaside, Oregon, in June 2015 as one of 21 qualifiers for the state title.<ref name="oreg150628"/> Wallace's competition talent was a lyrical dance performance to an acoustic version of "Latch", a synthpop song by Disclosure with vocals by Sam Smith.<ref name="oreg150628"/><ref name="dast150627"/><ref name="blbd140630"/>
Wallace's platform is "Traumatic Brain Injury: Education & Awareness", a cause with a personal connection as she suffered a traumatic brain injury while a freshman in high school and spent more than a year in recovery.<ref name="ptrb150623"/><ref name="msam2015"/> Her on-stage interview question asked about the merits of the National Security Agency's use of surveillance drones on U.S. citizens versus private citizens using drones to spy on their neighbors.<ref name="ptrb150702"/> She answered that there was "a huge difference" since private use was an "invasion of privacy" but that government use was "OK".<ref name="ptrb150702"/><ref name="oreg150628"/>
Wallace won the competition on Saturday, June 27, 2015, when she received her crown from outgoing Miss Oregon titleholder Rebecca Anderson.<ref name="ptrb150702"/> She earned more than $10,000 in scholarship money and other prizes from the state pageant.<ref name="dast150627"/> As Miss Oregon, her activities include public appearances across the state of Oregon.<ref name="bevt150630"/><ref name="oreg150628"/>
Vying for Miss America 2016
Wallace was Oregon's representative at the Miss America 2016 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 2015.<ref name="ptrb150702"/><ref name="msam2015"/> In the televised finale on September 13, 2015, she placed outside the Top 15 semi-finalists and was eliminated from competition. She was awarded a $3,000 scholarship prize as her state's representative.<ref name="msam16show"/><ref name="msam150916"/>
Early life and education
Wallace grew up in Beaverton, Oregon, and is a 2012 graduate of Sunset High School in Beaverton.<ref name="bevt150630"/><ref name="oreg150628"/> Her father, Chip Wallace, owns a collection agency.<ref name="oreg150628"/> Her mother, Tammy Fazzolari Wallace, is a dance teacher who was herself crowned Miss Oregon 1987.<ref name="oreg150628"/><ref name="dast150627"/><ref name="msor87pr"/> She has one younger sister, Bridgette.<ref name="oreg150628"/>
Wallace is a student at Portland State University where she is majoring in film studies.<ref name="ptrb150702"/><ref name="oreg150628"/>
