Ali Vincent

Alison Vincent, contestent and first female winner on The Biggest Loser: Couples (Season 5)

Allison "Ali" Vincent was the winner of The Biggest Loser season 5: Couples edition, making her the first woman in Biggest Loser US Series history to win.

Vincent is a thirty-three year old woman who appeared on the series (first aired January 1, 2008) with her mother Bette-Sue Burklund. Burklund and Vincent were known throughout the series as the "Pink Team" for the color assigned by the producers and trainers on the show. Due to a production twist in week 4 which pitted all of the teams against the yellow team, the pink team was voted off of the show without falling below the yellow line which determines team/player eligibility to be eliminated. At her exit interview, Vincent proclaimed that she would still be the Biggest Loser.

Due to another production twist in week 11 all of the eliminated contestants returned to weigh-in for an opportunity to re-join the game. The woman and man with the highest percentage of weight loss would be returning to the game taking the number of finalists from 6 to 8. With an additional 33 pounds lost at home for a total weight-loss percentage of 28.63%, Ali was had the highest percentage of weight-loss and returned to the game with Mark Kruger representing the men.

Due to the disbanding of the two teams on the ranch at the time (Black and Blue) in the same episode, Ali opted to represent herself and her mother as the pink team for the remainder of the show.

After returning to the ranch, Ali won 4 of the final 5 weigh-ins leaving her a guaranteed spot in the finale. In the finale which aired on April 15, 2008, Ali bested the other two finalists Kelly and Roger to take home the $250,000 prize and title of The Biggest Loser making her the first woman in the history of the US series to do so.

According to her pre-show interviews, Ali identified herself as a once outgoing and beautiful girl trapped inside her own body. A former champion synchronized swimmer, Ali found herself smothering beneath the weight that had piled on as an adult. Working as a hairdresser in high-end salons was a constant reminder of the dissatisfaction she experienced with her weight.

As a contestant on NBC's hit reality show The Biggest Loser, Ali embodied the idea of "Believe it, Be it," her personal mantra throughout the show. As a result of her hard work and unwavering commitment to herself and the process she has set the record for most weight released during the filming of the show by a woman contestant (99 pounds!) has achieved her dream of becoming the first ever WOMAN Biggest Loser.

Ali feels strongly about sharing what she has learned through her experience with TBL and has plans to create a non-profit foundation to support young girls and women in getting appropriate nutrition and exercise information as well as learning how to feel beautiful in their own skin.
