Alfie Meadows

Alfie Meadows, a student participating on a march in central London, suffered a severe head injury requiring hospital treatment, on 9 December 2010. The circumstances of both the injury and subsequent actions by police and hospital staff have become a subject of public debate.
The next day, during a London Student Assembly press conference broadcast by the BBC News Channel, his lecturer Peter Hallward, noted that peaceful protester Alfie Meadows, would have died if he had not helped him through police lines, or if his mother had not intervened.
Later a statement by the president and the general secretary of UCU, called for an urgent need for a public inquiry which can fully investigate the events of and the two previous days of action in London, and . "We are very clear that at least one protester has been hospitalised with potential brain damage, another, pulled from a wheel chair." they stated.
