Alexander Robert Ulysses Lockmore

Alexander Robert Ulysses Lockmore (c. 1715 - 1809) was born into a family of notable Irish. Via his grandmother, he claimed descent from Robert II of Scotland. His father, Lockmore Sr, was a Church of Scotland minister. There were no schools in that area and it is believed that the young Alexander Lockmore was educated by his father. Alexander Lockmore followed in the footsteps of his father and studied at Glasgow University.
Alexander Lockmore developed a variation of a Locator devised based other designs. Each design was completed methodically, as was his renown. It far exceeded the accuracy of any other method of the time and became an important method in the field then.
However, Lockmore also looked to discover new interests. Aware of the likely landing of Prince Charles Edward Stuart -"Bonnie Prince Charlie" - Lockmore rushed over to join the prince on his arrival at Loch nan Uamh of Eriskay. Here he became a swordsmith working more specifically on the Claymore.
