Al Haddi

The Al-Haddi Family is one of the famous families that ruled large parts of Yemen since the 600th year until now. The family originally belonged to the tribes of “Tho- Mohammed” a branch of Bakil on of the major tribes in Yemen. Their grandfather “Al-Dawoudi” moved to “Al-Had” area within “Yafe’e” (Lahj Governorate now) during old migrations, and settled there, then six hundred years ago “Al-Dawoudi”, who gained the name of “Al-Haddi” moved to the area of “Ammar” (Ibb Governorate now) where he established his Sultanate that extended to large areas. “Al-Haddi” started to found Forts and Castles and formidable fortress such as Safwan fortress, Hnaul fortress, Munif fortress and others. “Al-Haddi” used these forts for centuries to lead the war against the Turkish occupation to Yemen. Al-Haddi family the leader of “Ammar Tribe” has suffered from tragedy plight when the socialist rebels, who were supported from the southern Yemen, started to target the members of Al-Haddi family and assassinate them during the 1970s and early 1980s as cited during the civil war.
AMMAR name
"Ammar" is not a name of certain tribe , it is simply the name of place which now contains a number of villages of which now belongs to two or three modern administrative divisions (ALRADHMA, ALNADERAH,....) - Ibb Governorate
The name "Ammar" is very ancient, and it could be the name of one those old Yemenies Rulers in the old Yemeni Civilization, especially "Heymer".
There are some places near "AMMAR" like " KHOBAN" which is always famous in Modern Yemeni History.
Alhaddi family
There was no sultanate had been established ever in "Ammar" leaded by "alhaddi" family, and this type of rule was not exist in this part of Yemen, it was only exist in the south of Yemen.
Part of Al-Dawoudi family in “Yafe’e” migrated to "Ammar" villages due to unknown reason, most independent and confident sources said it was because some war happened in “Yafe’e” which cause this part of Al-Dawoudi ( known later as "alhaddi" ) family to escape from their own villages to save their lives ( because there is still a quite number of Al-Dawoudi still live in “Yafe’e”.
Extinction of this family in their original place referred basically to existing of some conflicts and traitors among them.
Most of alhaddi family's big personalities had killed in 1977-1984 during the conflicts between north & south of Yemen due to the impact of cold war between former USSR & US.
the rest of big personalities of alhaddi family had escaped to capital of Yemen (sana'a) or immigrated abroad.
Alhaddi family was not ever the sole leader of the tribes in "Ammar" area, and the leadership was shared by approximate percentage of 50/50 with another very strong, big & rich family which called
