Air Land Emergency Resource Team

The Air Land Emergency ResourceTeam (ALERT) is an intensive 3-phase Christian discipleship and career training program that equips young men to serve people in need.
The organization is currently located in Big Sandy, Texas at the former campus of Ambassador College.
Training
PHASE 1 - "BASIC"
Basic Training is the first of three phases that ALERT offers to young men, to prepare them for the responsibilities and challenges that come with Godly manhood. In nine intensive weeks of boot camp, you’ll confront the unhealthy self-focus you were born with, and you’ll be challenged to maintain a lifestyle of service to others in Christ’s name.
Basic Training focuses on developing personal discipline, attention to detail, endurance, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, time management, and healthy spiritual habits such as Scripture reading and memorization. Training highlights include wilderness survival, rope systems, land navigation, response drills, and multi-day hiking.
The depth and scope of our training has been proven to deepen a man’s walk with the Lord, and cause rapid growth in his maturity, and develop in him the confidence to face significant life challenges. The concepts taught in this phase are foundational to the skills that will be introduced during Phase 2 of ALERT training.
PHASE 2 - "E.R.T"
Building on the foundation of Basic Training, ERT (Emergency Response Training) prepares men to respond to crisis situations while continually reinforcing a Christian ministry mindset. You’ll learn crisis response skills in the classroom, and then apply them through disaster relief and other service opportunities, while keeping discipleship, accountability, and time in God’s Word at the core of daily life.
This phase of training includes; Basic Firefighting. Basic Wildland Firefighting. Basic High-angle Rescue. Search & Recovery Diving. Rescue Systems 1. Sawer skills.
PHASE 3 - ""
With Phases 1 and 2 behind you, you’ll be set to earn a state or national certification in the field of your choice. Men graduate from ALERT after completing at least 10 weeks of Advanced Training.
These training options include: Advanced Diving (Dive), Leadership and Communications(), emergency medical technician (EMT), Fire Academy (Fire), Technical Rescue (TECH), Mobile Response Team (MRT), Campus Support Team (CST), and Basic Training Leadership (CADRE)

- STRONG TO SERVE -
Public service
As a disaster relief organization, ALERT is deployed at the request of government officials. Its officers and students serve locally and internationally in response to natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and ice storms.
As a public service organization, ALERT Responders use their dive recovery training, sawyer, and land search and rescue training to serve local authorities on a volunteer basis. They respond upon request from government officials. In addition to specialized skills, ALERT units have volunteered to serve in projects including cemetery cleanup, playground construction, children's camps, and community improvement.
ALERT has deployed over 900 times since its founding in 1994, including the Oklahoma City Bombing, the Columbia Shuttle Recovery, and multiple hurricanes including Katrina, Dennis, Irene, and Sandy. International deployment destinations have included Brazil, Mexico, Mongolia, South Korea, Haiti, Russia, Venezuela, Honduras, Romania, Peru, Belize, and the Bahamas.
