Adam Kontras

Adam Kontras (born , in Columbus, Ohio) is an American singer, songwriter, animator, editor, director, and comedian. However, he is best known as the first Internet video blogger, having begun posting videos alongside his blog entries on January 2, 2000. The blog, known as "The Journey", began tracking his move from Ohio to California to begin a career in show business by performing his musical comedy act, 4TVs. The Journey has since continued to capture all of his successes and failures over the years, in both textual and audiovisual form. He continues to average around two entries, with videos, per week.
4TVs concept
Kontras' one-man show consisted of four television sets displaying four different characters—all played by Kontras—interacting with him live. The videos were pre-recorded and synchronized, allowing "Live Adam" to communicate and sing with the other four characters in a seamless routine.
Adam & the Egos
This act was later the basis for his appearance in The Early Show ' s "Living Room Live" competition on CBS. While he didn't win the entire competition, his first round win led him to be hired to host future incarnations of the segment, with his characters appearing as the Egos on the sets of shows such as The Price is Right and The Young and the Restless while discussing the contestants and announcing the winners.
Kontras filmed a pilot for a Comedy Central TV series, based on his Adam & the Egos concept, on November 12, 2009, at the Comedy Central Stage at the Hudson Theatre, in Los Angeles, California. The series was not picked up for broadcasting.
Viral success
Kontras also had viral success in 2006 with an animated video parody of The Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann", entitled "Let's Bomb Iran", which had over a million views worldwide within days of its release. The video was featured on the April 27, 2006, edition of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, during a segment about "protest rock", and prompted commentary in such international newspapers as the Spanish-language El País and the Dutch-language NRC Handelsblad. The rights to the video were later bought by AtomFilms (later renamed Atom.com), which continues to promote it.
First video blogger
Recently, Kontras was interviewed by Jessica Soho of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho on the Philippines' GMA Network for his status as the first video blogger. On January 2, 2010, Kontras celebrated 10 years of video blogging and the 1000th entry of The Journey with a combination recorded video and live performance show in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
