Adam Collin (born 9 December 1984 in Carlisle, England) is a highly rated Semi-Pro Goalkeeper with Conference North side Workington. Collin started his career in football with Newcastle United as a youngster. He never featured in the Newcastle first team aside from a couple of appearances on the bench in cup games. Collin had spells on loan at Doncaster Rovers and Oldham Athletic before being released by Newcastle in the summer of 2004. Current Workington assistant manager Tony Elliott, a Former goalkeeper but at the time not attached to the club recommended him to Workington Manager Tommy Cassidy. Collin was added to the Reds squad just before the start of the 2004-05 season as cover for Neil Thompson. In a quirk of fate, as Thompson was suspended for the first match of the new season, Collin made his debut in Reds 4-0 home win over Matlock Town. Collin kept clean sheets in each of his first four matches to establish himself as Number 1.
Collin had a superb season and the Workington defence conceded only 30 goals in 42 games. He was sent off in 1-0 away defeat at Hyde United in April 2005 for handball outside the area. His suspension was overturned after a video proved he was inside the box, he was the first Workington player to have a suspension quashed in such a manner. Collin became a hero for Workington saving 3 penalties in a Shoot-out against Farsley Celtic on 17 May2005, Workington won 6-5 to win promotion to the Conference North.
Collin continues to be number 1 in Conference North, He made 41 starts During the 2005-06 season and a further 42 during the 2006-07 season.
Collin was listed as one of the hottest 5 up and coming players in the Non League Paper in 2006 and has been linked with moves to Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday on several occasions during his time at Workington. He also was recently at the centre of a fall out between Workington and Carlisle United after he was invited to train with the Brunton Park club.
Collin spent two weeks on trial at Hereford United in July 2007 and was tipped sign for the League Two club however he returned to Workington despite Hereford being keen to sign him
