Hazlerigg Victory .F.C. are a Sunday Leauge football club who play in the North East Sunday League Division B and are based in the village of Hazlerigg, England. They are managed by former Seaton Burn Player Mark Bullock. History They were Re-founded by Mark Bullock in 2007/2008, Mark was only 18 at the time and was keen to re-establish hazlerigg as a force in Sunday league football, Hazlerigg lost years of tradition when the team was up rooted to Newcastle Labour Club but the social club is still steeped in the football history with trophies and pictures around the club. Mark took a group of local lads including 2nd generation hazlerigg player Sean Bates who follows in the footsteps of father John and club Capitan Daniel Bell and some extra fringe players from outside the local area and layed down a large amount of money and started the rebuilding process of the club The club entered into the North East Sunday League Division F starting at the bottom, Under the guidance of Mark Bullock and a big part to the influence of Capitan Stephen Airey the team gained promotion at the first time of asking although finishing 5th in the league, since then have been promoted every season as runners up, The club has went on several good cup runs and finally got there just rewards last season 2010-2011 when they won their first silverware in the Charlie Taylor cup. Cup Exploits The Rigg have had several close runs in the past beaten on penalties and maybe had they had full strength teams out on other occasions it may have been a different story but it took from 2006 until 2011 for the club to get the first bit of silverware in the cabinet, The team went on a fine run in the Charlie Taylor cup with a win on penalties along the way thanks to a save from B team keeper Anthony Young and an excellent finish from Callum Thompson to send the B's through to the semi finals, which to brought penalties this time first team keeper Warren Dobson was the hero with 3 saves to send The Rigg to the Finals against Fawdon Park, The game started excellent and triumph with a 4-0 win goals from D.Peacock, R.Macdonald x2, S.Russell Hazlerigg Welfare Hazlerigg Victory F.C play there games at the local welfare, which thanks to the lack of council commitment is lacking any real sparkle the chaning rooms are old and delapadated, there is the remnence of a park at the bottom and is simply a pitch and a hut, address is Hazlerigg Welfare, Windt Street, Hazlerigg, Newcastle upon Tyne NE13 7XB Famous Fans Alex Patterson - The former Newcastle United player now in america with Eckerd College always comes to The Riggs games and training sessions Current squad Hazlerigg Reserves Due to the growing popularity of Hazlerigg Victory F.C, Mark Bullock took it upon himself to set up a second team for the fringe players in the team who had been loyal to the club, In 2008 Halzlerigg Victory B team was set up, affectionately known to the players and fans as the Rezzys, the team was set up as a laugh and although not the best players in the team there hunger and togetherness drove them on in the league and in the last season before the Community Champions League Division Premier disbanded the team won the last two cups both the Presidents Cup and the Divisional Cup Hazlerigg also have the honour of keeping them both in the club as the league is no more. The new 2011-2012 season see's the Rezzys step up a league and now the real test begins for the team to see if they can keep the smiles on their faces come the end of the season, Mark Bullock and B team Capitan Sean Bates will certainly be hoping so.
