Achille Raspantini

Achille Raspantini (born on March 5, 1954) is an American entrepreneur, who is the Founder and President of Technical Operations, Inc., Founder of Post Office Digital, Owner of Cara Bella Trattoria Italiana, and Executive Director of Yeah New York.
Work History
Achille worked as a Chemist at Coler-Goldwater Memorial Hospital and NYU Medical Center. He switched gears and joined American Broadcasting Company (ABC) as an Engineering Assistant and worked under the guidance of ABC's President of Broadcast Operations and Engineering Division,Julius Barnathan. Julius who was responsible for many technical developments in the television industry, including the use of hand-held and miniature cameras at sporting events and closed captioning programs for the deaf.
Under Julius' coaching, Achille brought contributions to the industry, starting with a partnership with Squib Pharmaceuticals that introduced a remote heart rate monitor, transmitter and receiver that was showcased on-air during the 1983 NYC Marathon. This monitor is still a key feature today in Marathon broadcasts.
Achille was the driver behind ABC's development of the parabolic microphone system, which is still being used today for television sports. He led a joint venture between ABC and Sony to launch Telefirst, which is the first pay per view broadcast system. Later then, he enhanced the Telefirst system to serve as the scrambler for the first WrestleMania featured in 400 movie theaters across the country.
In 1998, Achille served as Technical Supervisor - Operations Manager for the Olympics. He led the tech team's execution, sucessfully broadcasting the 16-day event to 216 National Affiliates. Achille was recognized with the 1988 Sports Emmy Award for Individual Achievement.
Next, he joined ABC Soaps as Associate Producer for "Loving." While working closely with the Executive Producer, Joseph Hardy, Achille developed the first close captioning for a broadcast Soap Opera. Continuing in the production field, Achille took on responsibilities as Production Manager for 20/20.
Achille left ABC and joined Sony's Recording Media Division in 1991 as District Sales Manager.
Companies
In 1994, Achille founded Technical Operations, Inc. (Tech-Ops) as a Service Maintenace company but has expanded to provide a variety of services in Broadcast Engineering, Audiovisual Communication and Information Technology. It supplies technology services to over five hundred (500) clients in various areas such as technical staffing, broadcast operations, audio video repair and maintenance, audio video conferencing solutions, multimedia and IT services.
He also founded Post Office Digital in 2004, a post-production facility located in a historic Post Office building in Edgewater, New Jersey that offers duplication and media conversion services.
In 2009, he opened Cara Bella Trattoria Italiana, one of the few italian restaurants in his childhood neighborhood, Astoria, New York.
In the last quarter of 2010, he launched Yeah New York (http://www.yeahnewyork.com), his first venture in the field of online media, which is focused on providing engaging content to lucrative 18-35 segment of the online market. The creation of Yeah New York is his way of giving back to the city that developed his entrepreneurial spirit through offering NYC a platform for creative and talented people to be recognized, and for ordinary New Yorkers doing extraordinary contribution to the society to be appreciated. Moreover, it’s a source of news and opinions that directly affect New York residents.
Awards & Recognitions
* Achille received a Sports Emmy Award for Individual Achievement as Technical Supervisor and Operations Manager for the 1998 Olympic Certifications.
* He was named the Most Distinguished American of Italian Descent in 2010 by The Italian Tribune.
