Accenti Magazine

Accenti: The Magazine with an Italian Accent is an English-language print publication co-founded in 2002 by Domenic Cusmano (publisher) and Licia Canton (editor-in-chief). It is destined to English-speaking readers interested in Italian culture. It offers a unique Canadian perspective on Italy and its cultural heritage, wherever and however such heritage finds expression. Accentis mission is to bring together readers and writers around the idea of shared cultural experience, to encourage creative expression, and to celebrate common cultural values. Accenti focuses on content at the intersection of literature, art, history, memoir, and image - as well as on the figures who toil in these quarters. Most of the content comes from freelance contributors and submissions at large.
Circulation and Distribution
The first printed issue of Accenti Magazine was published in March 2003, with a print run of 10,000 copies and a cover price of $5.99. Currently, the magazine is published four times a year and it is circulated throughout Canada.
Contests and Events
Accenti Magazine sponsors two annual contests. The Accenti Writing Contest invites short fiction and nonfiction submissions, and offers a top prize of $1000 plus publication in print and online. The Accenti ‘Capture An Italian Moment’ Photo Contest invites photo submissions that convey Italian themes anywhere in the world. It too offers a top prize of $1000 plus publication in print and online. Contest winners are announced at the annual Accenti Awards and Gala Evening held every spring.
