Abdul Traya

Abdul Traya from Calgary, Alberta became famous after he registered the domain AppleiMac.com before the launch of the Apple iMac computer. He is also the founder of WestNet in 1999. WestNet is the first company in Canada to offer city-wide WiFi Internet.
Overnight celebrity
Abdul received excessive international media coverage during the high profile domain dispute. CNN, MSNBC, CTV News, The New York Times and CBC News all covered the story. CNET also featured the story on the front page at News.com
He was a guest of numerous talk shows, both prime time and late night. In June 1999, Time Magazine interviewed him regarding an unrelated matter.
