Abdul Lateef Usta is a famous Heritage specialist and museologist, who has been helping in conservation and chronicling of Indian art, Heritage and Indian handicrafts in particular. He has been playing a role of torch-bearer in the genres of Art, Culture and Heritage in India. He is also creating pave for professional art researchers through his lectures, papers and publications. Scholars from India and abroad eagerly seeks his evaluation of their work. His association with Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, as a curator, has provided a modern outlook to the discipline of Heritage conservation and Art promotion in India and Rajasthan in particular. Mr. Usta has conceptualized and played a pivotal role to set up a museum at Jawahar Kala Kendra -‘Alankar’. This ’Indigenous Art and Craft Museum’’ showcases the art, culture and visual heritage of indigenous Rajasthan. Each object displayed in the museum, is executing itself as a figure to reveal the real Rajasthan symbolically and properly. . Mr. Usta is a recipient of Ford Foundation fellowship and received his post graduate degree from the Northumbria University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He has served many instituations of international repute incuding the Chester Beatty Library of Dublin, Victoria and Albert Museum, London and Bharat Kala Bhawan, Varanasi. Mr. Usta also belongs to a traditional artistic family of Bikaner (Rajasthan, India) called Usta family that is renowned for producing a unique style of art. Usta art is characterized by school of miniature painting and gold embossing work. His contributions towards Art and Culture are blooming day by day and this promising curator is expected to make great and historic contributions in the arena of Art, Culture and Heritage.
