Aaron Barnett

Aaron Barnett (born 20 September 1982 in Portsmouth) is an un-attached professional footballer, who usually plays as a midfielder.
Playing career
Barnett made his debut for semi-professional club Petersfield Town at the young age of 15, and represented Hampshire U23 as a 16 year old when he also attracted much interest from Fulham who monitored his progress before he was eventually picked up by Rushden & Diamonds as a trainee in 1998. He played alongside the likes of Darren Collins and Andy Burgess in the Rushden & Diamonds youth & reserve setup. In 1999 Aaron was invited to join Arsenal for a two week trial period. He went on to remain with the club for two seasons, but failed to force his way into the first team and was released in 2000. Later that year his family decided to immigrate to Australia.
Following his move to Australia, Aaron was picked up by Perth Glory for the 2000-01 season. He immediately agreed to join Western Australia State League team Joondalup to help gain more playing time. Aaron was a member of the same team that included former Glasgow Rangers midfielder, Sandy Robertson. He had a successful spell at the club and contributed with some important goals during the season.
Aaron decided to return to England shortly after the season had finished to accept the opportunity to complete a Sports Science degree at Portsmouth University. During this time he signed with Havant & Waterlooville whilst continuing to study. He fulfilled his dream to play against his boyhood club Portsmouth F.C. in a pre season friendly.
Barnett went on to play for Stirling Lions S.C (Australia) before returning to Petersfield Town and Havant & Waterlooville for second spells. Late in 2008 Birmingham City offered Barnett an opportunity to work in the clubs marketing department and at the start of the 2009-10 season Aaron turned down offers from a number of teams in the West Midlands before eventually signing for Worcester City in the Conference South.
Aaron has since returned to Australia to be closer to his family and set up a small business. It is believed he has signed for a Western Australian State League team, although International Clearance is still pending.
