A.D. Liano

A.D. Liano (born September 30, 1969) is an American director and producer based in San Francisco, California. In 2009 he was nominated for a Gotham Award for Everything Strange and New which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2011, he was also nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Film critic Stephen Holden of The New York Times and Peter Debruge of each compared the production of Everything Strange and New to the work of Andrei Tarkovsky.
Career
Producer
In 1996, Liano formed BlueRain Films where he started producing short films and, ultimately, a feature length documentary Barberland which was completed in 1998 and co-directed and produced with his brother Rob Liano. In the early 2000's, Liano went on to produce and direct a number of films and shorts including The Three-Cornered Hat starring Luis Saguar for KQED.
Liano was hired by Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2006 to develop and produce original content to support the launch of Sony's video-entertainment network which launched in 2007. Under that banner Liano executive produced a number of original shows including Firehouse which premiered on Crackle and was released on Season 4 DVD.
Returning to filmmaking in 2008, Liano teamed up with director Frazer Bradshaw to produce Everything Strange and New.
