A Simple Walk Into Mordor

A Simple Walk Into Mordor is an American web series created by Rooster Teeth to celebrate the release of The Hobbit Movie in December 2012. The series features Kerry Shawcross and Chris Demarais, two staff members of Rooster Teeth, who attempt to make the same Journey as Sam and Frodo from Lord of The Rings. In a Simple Walk Into Mordor, Kerry and Chris walk over 120 miles across New Zealand from the filming location of Hobbiton in Matamata to the filming location of Mount Doom, Mount Ngauruhoe. They had a native Kiwi, Nicholas Newton, who filmed them on the journey and acted as a guide. Kerry and Chris dressed in clothes similar to Frodo and Sam’s and wore shoes shaped like Hobbit feet.
A Simple Walk into Mordor was solely broadcast on the internet and premiered on December 8, 2012. The series consists of 5 episodes running from 6 to 12 minutes long and can be found on YouTube and Blip. The complete series was released on DVD and Blu-ray in September 2013.
History
The history of ‘Simple Walk Into Mordor’ started from a line delivered by Boromir in the First Lord of the rings film. The phrase “One does not simply walk into Mordor” originates from a scene in Peter Jackson’s 2001 film adaption of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. In the scene, the Council of Elrond reveals that an evil ring must be destroyed by being thrown into the fires of Mount Doom, a volcano in Mordor. Boromir promptly points out the difficultly of the task by saying, “One does not simply walk into Mordor." Also to note, when asking Google for walking directions from the Shire where the Hobbits live in J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy novels to Mordor, Google brings back a warning: "Use caution - One does not simply walk into Mordor."
In an interview with MTV Geek, Kerry stated, "I was curious as to how far away the sets for the Shire and Mordor were from each other because I thought it would be hilarious if they were actually close. When I found out it was only 120 miles away, I knew I had to try and walk the distance."

Episode 2: Rivendell to Moria - In day two and three of their journey, the physical pain and exhaustion hit the travelers hard. Kerry and Chris get lost to in a forest. Episode 3: Blisters and Ball Rags - The hobbits suffer blisters, dodge cars, and take on a 70 km stretch of highway. Episode 4: Mount Doom - Chris and Kerry attempt to take a shortcut through private property as they make their way to Mount Doom. Episode 5: The Ring is Found - After "destroying" the ring on top of Mount Doom, viewers of the show located the ring.
