A Peace of Jerusalem

A Peace of Jerusalem is an evolving "way forward" proposal which aims to advance the cause of peace in the Middle East; most specifically, between the Arab and Jewish inhabitants thereof. A document describing it was published on November 5, 2009, and has been periodically revised in response to feedback from the general public and from individuals and groups pursuing peace in the region.
The document describes a demographically interlaced, co-sovereignty solution, with special status for Jerusalem.
The Name
The document is entitled "A Peace of Jerusalem"; a wordplay on the inexact homonyms "peace" and "piece". The dichotomy continues in the opening lines of the proposal as it recounts a story about the wisdom of King Solomon.
The Internet-based publishing project that generated the document is referred to as "A Peace of Jerusalem initiative" (APoJi - pronounced "apogee"); a reference to the apparent distance between the contesting parties.
The phrase is also to be found in Psalm 122 ; A song of ascents. Of David.
== Defusing the "Demographic Bomb" ==
In the context of Middle Eastern affairs, the term "demographic bomb" usually refers to a situation which could arise if the Arab electorate of Israel attains majority status and simply votes Israel out of existence, or repudiates its status as a Jewish state; an eventuality that would be more likely in a "single-state" solution, given the historically higher average birth rate for the region's Arabs versus its Jews. It may, however, also prove problematic in certain "two-state" or "multi-state" proposals. (See: List of Middle East peace proposals.)
In Section II of the document, the proposal seeks to balance the demographic equation through the creation of an identical permanent residency class in each state, with political representation and taxation implications discussed in Section IV.
