4 famous flowers of China

The 4 famous flowers of China, motifs in Chinese art and symbols in Chinese culture, are the orchid, the lotus, the chrysanthemum, and the plum blossom. They are also known as the "flowers of the four seasons," and contain three of the elements of the Four Gentlemen.
The orchid is a symbol of spring, the lotus of summer, the chrysanthemum of autumn, and the plum blossom of winter. They often appear as a grouping on Chinese porcelain, and are on a par with other motifs in Chinese art, such as the eight Taoist immortals, dragons, the "eight precious symbols", Sanskrit Dharani, and Lingzhi fungus.
