2204355

2204355 was a viral internet meme surrounding a website which depicted a man dancing in front of a rainbow background and eating KFC chicken to a chiptune remix of the Alf theme song. Upon typing the number into Google Search and pressing its "I'm Feeling Lucky" button, users were sent to the website. The meme was discussed on blogs and online forums in and around 2010.
Video
In the looped video that was featured on the website, a young black man dances to a synthesized music track while holding two chicken legs from KFC, occasionally biting into them, as well as lunging into the camera and smiling. This is set against a rolling rainbow pattern in the background.
History
Matt Zoller Seitz of reported that the video originated from a web-based 2009 KFC advertising campaign for the chain's then-new lineup of grilled menu items titled "Unthink KFC," a campaign which partially revolved around the concept of a "chicken dance," telling customers to "upload a video of themselves shaking their chicken dance to the KFC music track provided on the site. Users can then rate and watch their friend's videos." He found that the video had later been reuploaded on YouTube as "Racist KFC Commercial", and the campaign had been criticised by some bloggers for perpetuating racist stereotypes, including the African-American Fried chicken stereotype. Seitz stated that the man from the meme appears at the 15-second mark in one of the ads, but could not identify him.<ref name=":1" />
On Monday, June 28, 2010, the website began to go viral.<ref name":1" /> Megan Gibson of the NewsFeed section of wrote that "NewsFeed is completely mystified by the meaning behind the video and, sadly, it's not the first time the Internet has left us baffled (looking at you, Badger Badger viral video)."<ref name":0" />
