2020 NH90 crash

In the afternoon around 14:30 on 19 July 2020, a Dutch NH90 military helicopter crashed near the island of Aruba into the Caribbean Sea when the helicopter was near the end of a coast guard patrol. The NH90 was based on Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) Holland-class offshore patrol vessel HNLMS Groningen (P843).
The NH-90 helicopter subsequently sank into the sea in rough waters and high wind, despite attempts to keep it afloat. Two of the four crew members died, the pilot (aged 34) and tactical coordinator (aged 33).
Om 21 July 2020 the two bodies were brought to Willemstad in Curaçao.
The cause of the crash is unknown and will be investigated. A team of experts were send from the Netherland tintje crash site for investigation.
After the crash Dutch prime minister expressed his condoleances. Condoleances were also sent by ministers Ank Bijleveld and Ferd Grapperhaus and several main Tweede Kamer politicians.
