2015 Los Angeles Unified School District closure

On December 15, 2015, the Los Angeles Unified School District in Los Angeles, California received a credible terrorist threat via email causing the temporary closure of all Los Angeles Unified Schools. With more than 900 schools containing over 700 thousand students, it is the second-largest school district in the United States. The email was traced to an IP address in Frankfurt, Germany. The Los Angeles Times reported that the threat did not necessarily originate from an IP address in Frankfurt, Germany.
