|
The new Switchfoot record will be recorded sometime in the Spring of 2008, and will be released in the Fall of 2008. This marks the first full-length release by the band after its 2007 split with their major record label, Columbia/SonyBMG. It will be released under the band's independent record label, Lowercase People Records. Charlie Peacock will be the producer on the record, along with the band itself.
Early Developments *Word of a new record began when Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman posted a myspace blog on July 28, 2007 that "we're tracking a few tunes for the next project this week."
*Later on August 10, 2007, the band announced its label independence, and their plans on releasing the follow-up to 2006's as an independent band. "Over the course of the next few months we are going to release several diverse projects culminating in a new switchfoot release that will redefine who we are in a new independent era," Foreman said on the band's official youtube page.
*In October, the band began contruction of their very own studio as well, and will record the new record in that studio.
*In December, Jon Foreman stated in an interview, "We have over a hundred songs to choose from right now, it really could go in a lot of directions. Right now, it's shaping up to be more acoustic AND more electronic."
*The album will be released sometime in the Fall of 2008.
