The 2008 Fortune Market 250 is going to be held over the weekend of May 16-18. The race is planned to be run on the 2.238 mile Laguna Seca road circuit.
The northern California Champ Car race had been scheduled to return to Laguna Seca after a 3 year absence to run alongside the 2008 Fortune Market 500 as part of the Monterey Festival of Speed after the shuttering of the San Jose Grand Prix due to financial shortfalls after 3 years of operation in San Jose. Due to the merger of Champ Car and the Indy Racing League the Champ Car race was later canceled. The scheduled Champ Car owned Atlantic Championship race was still scheduled to run however alongside the Rolex Sports Car Series as a support race on May 18th.
