2 Faces

2Faces, born Francis Belleau is a player on the hip-hop scene of Québec.
A short time after his first group, Constellation (1998) , he released his first solo album: "Appelles ça comme tu veux" (1999). This album was notable in the short history of Québécois rap, and spawned the single "Tu vois le genre ?". The album also contained the track "Interurbain", featuring Rainmen and Muzion. Canadian producers (Scam from Toronto, Kemo from Vancouver and Vaine from Montréal) added their touches to the project. After this, Explicit Productions signed him up.
On his new label, in 2000 he released the compilation "Berceau de l’Amérique". 2Faces provided musical compositions for Muzion, Onze, Canox and many others. The album allowed the public to discover new artists such as King and Taktika. This record was a landmark in Québécois rap .
In 2001 came one of the most controversial times in Québécois rap to date. The collectif 83, with 2Faces at the head, formed with Canox, Onze and the members of Taktika. They were ubiquitous on the airwaves of Musique Plus for the next 3 years, with a succession of videos such as "J’fais c’que j’peux". It was at the ADISQ in 2002, that the 83 invaded the stage to spread their message. Not content with the state of the rap industry, 2 Faces took the microphone of Guy A. Lepage for a few moments, and was applauded by the public.. The media circus that followed was unprecedented.
He made a solo return with "Game over", the album released on 14 October 2003. While he took charge of most of the production, he did employ other beatmakers. He also left the direction of the record to Daniel Ste.-Marie ( Rainmen, 83, Dubmatique ) who took credit for the editing. After a mastering at New York by Michael Sarsfield (Lost Boys, Beatnuts, etc…), the album was not as well-received as albums by European or American artists. However, 2 faces used the album to increase his personal profile.
2Faces retired from the scene after a while, blaming the music industry. However, he released a new album named "Moi, 2Faces et Dirty" on 23 January 2007.
