15 50 are a greek rock band, hailing from Athens, Greece.
History
Formation and early years (1998-2003)
15 50 were formed in the beginning of 1998 by Roussetos Dimitroglou, Giannis Koumettis and Tasos Stavrakas. They started playing as a cover band but sooner or later they realised that being just entertainers was not enough. In September 1999 they recorded and released their first homonym album with the record label Planetworks. The album, produced by Giannis Methenitis, contains eleven tracks including one orchestral and one Radiohead adaptation and received excellent critiques even from the so-called “difficult” critics and won the preference of the radio station "Atlantis" (five weeks number 1 on the top-ten). The singles that distinguished and also became music videos were: «Î‰σουν παντοÏ?» (Isoun Pantou) and «ΤαξιδιÏŽτης της ερήμου» (Taksidiotis tis Erimou).
15 50’s music route closely follows a print called Rocumentary which is distributed for free all over Athens. The idea for this issue begun from an ordinary poster that looked like a newspapers front page and announced the bands live appearances. Eventually, the poster was transformed into a few pages issue, which recorded some aspects of the current timeline in Athens and of course, it basically announced 15 50s news.
Recent Years (2004-present)
In November of 2004 they released their second LP, with title «Κάποια Κυριακή» (Kapoia Kyriaki), with the record label Energy Team. This album also becomes a subject of excellent critiques from the entirety of the music (and not only) press. This time, conductor of the production are the 15 50 and in charge of the sound mix was their formerly singer Iosif Moshopoulos. This album contains 12 tracks. The album’s first music video is the track «Κάποια Κυριακή» (Kapoia Kyriaki), and was played in all Greek music channels.
In October of 2007, MBI releases their third album with the title «ÎŒσα Μπορείς» (Osa Mporeis) , which contains 12 tracks including an adaptation of a popular song in Greece called «Δεν Είσαι EδÏŽ» (Den Eisai Edo), which was first sung by Greek singer Dimitra Galani. Songs "ΑκÏŒμα μια Φορά Δεν είσαι ΕδÏŽ" (Akoma mia fora den eisai edo) and "ÎŒσα Μπορείς" (Osa Mporeis) are played in the winter 07-08 from the capital's and district's radio stations. "ÎŒσα Μπορείς" (Osa Mporeis) is heard on Jack Daniel's advertising radio spots as they hold a determined collaboration. 15 50 will release their two next albums with record label MBI within the next five years. This album's first music video was for the song "ΑκÏŒμα μια Φορά Δεν είσαι ΕδÏŽ" (Akoma mia fora den eisai edo) and is shown in everyday basis from television channels MAD TV and ALTER.
Since their formation (beginning 1998) they have appeared in clubs in Athens and all over Greece. From May 2005 until May 2006 they accompanied Greek singer Vasilis Papakonstantinou in his pan-Hellenic summer and winter tour with over 100 live appearances in Greece and Cyprus. 15 50’s live appearances characteristics are their impressive stage performance and their avant-garde choices.
