Zylo

Zylo is an American Software company headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Founded in 2016, the company develops a software management platform used to manage and optimize software subscriptions and AI spending. Scott Dorsey has been Executive Chairman of Zylo since October 2021.

History

Zylo was founded in 2016 by Eric Christopher, Ben Pippenger, and Cory Wheeler at High Alpha, an Indianapolis-based venture studio.

The company received initial funding from Bessemer Venture Partners, Salesforce Ventures, and the Slack Fund in 2018. Byron Deeter of Bessemer Venture Partners also joined the company's board of directors in 2018. Menlo Ventures general partner Matt Murphy joined the board as part of the company's financing. Scott Dorsey was named Executive Chairman of Zylo in October 2021. In 2025, Zylo was named one of the Best Workplaces by Inc.

Products and services

Zylo develops a software management platform that integrates with an organization's financial systems, single sign-on (SSO) providers, and other data sources to discover and provide visibility into software and AI spending. The platform tracks license utilization, contract renewals, and software and AI spending to support spend management and optimization, as well as governance and compliance processes.

The platform is used by IT, software asset management, and other specialists to manage software portfolios, identify redundant or underused subscriptions, and optimize software and AI spending. It is also designed to help organizations uncover "shadow IT" by finding software applications purchased by employees outside of official IT channels.

The company publishes an annual index that analyzes anonymized data from its customer base. In recent reports, the company's index has detailed how software spending has increased due to the adoption and pricing volatility of AI tools.
