Zimmer Barnes

Zimmer Barnes is an American journalist and activist. He is best known for covering technology news, as well as volunteer work and crime activism. As such, he has been featured in numerous publications as both writer and subject. His work has been published on Truthout and Yahoo News.

Biography

At age nine, Barnes locked himself in a car to avoid police after his mother's arrest. This event was alleged to have been traumatic. As an adult, he has worked as the Creative Coordinator of the Kent Cummins Magic Camp, a non-profit organization, and was a lecturer at PlumberCon, a hacker conference. He is also a licensed EMT and has worked as a volunteer field medic.

Crime Activism

Barnes began work as a crime activist at age 18, GeneRally referred to only by his middle name. In 2009, he became President of the Heroes Network, an online forum. He attended the Superheroes Anonymous conference in New Bedford, MA. For his activism against crime, he was photographed for the Real Life Superhero Project. He later co-founded the New York Initiative, a neighborhood crime watch team in Brooklyn, NY<ref name="The League of Super Friends: "Real-life superheroes" from around the world">

. He is a subject of the 2011 documentary, "Superheroes", and was interviewed on Fox 13 and Gay Times Magazine.
