History

Zechs Marquise formed in the fall of 2003 going by the name of Monolith. Since then, the band has created a stir in their hometown of El Paso, Texas, and has built a solid fan base within the southwest cities that they have visited on the road. The band combines a wide variety of sounds and INSTRUMENTS to create an ambiance few have heard since bands like Can, Pink Floyd and King Crimson hit the scene in earlier years. With their energetic and always evolving live performances the band brings the listener along with them on their journey. Utilizing the live elements of jazz improv, and applying them to rock, the listener is transposed from the audio aspects of music to the visual. As proclaimed by Crystal Robert, booker and promoter of The T-Lounge, “a fusion of senses resulting in a unique and psychedelic rock experience.”

Over the course of three years members Michael Farraro (drums), Marfred Rodriguez-Lopez (bass), Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (electric pianos, synths), Matt Wilkson (guitar) and Marcos Smith (lead guitar), have had the honor to play with band such as: The Album Leaf, Year Future, Free Moral Agents, Coaxial, Chin up Chin up, Nobody, Bus Driver, Daedelus, The Roots of Orchis, Totimoshi, and Art Lewis, just to name a few. After a long and trying four years together, they are in the process of recording their first album and have released an EP (34:26). With an unrivaled work ethic, Zechs Marquise plans on touring for the better part of the year confident that others will find what so many have found in their music: passion, intensity, and inventiveness.

In August 2007, the band announced a special version of the record to be released. The album includes the only studio recording released by the band called "Pattern". The song is also available on the band's myspace page. Only 100 copies of the record were released, available only through the band's official site.
