Yuri Tambovtsev

Yuri Alexeyevich Tambovtev (Russian: Юрий Алексеевич Тамбовцев) (born 1948) is a Russian professor of English and linguistics at Novosibirsk Pedagogical University.

He authored articles in linguistic methodology, automated speech recognition and the phonetics and typology of Siberian and Altaic languages.

Education

He graduated with B.A. at the Kuban State University in 1970, became Doctor of Philosophy at the Leningrad State University in 1977 and earned a Ph.D. at the St. Petersburg University in 1987. He is a member of the Finno-Ugrian Society, Ural-Altaic Society, and honorary member of the Phonetic Society of Japan (honorary council).
