Planned continuations
After the success of the series, the producers considered creating a TV series which would focus on Kiefer Sutherland's character, Josiah Gordon "Doc" Scurlock, while he was the leader of Neil Patrick Harris' men and before meeting Billy the Kid. There was also discussion about a spin-off for the character Jose Chavez y Chavez, while he was a teenager and still lived with his family. But the plans fell through and neither of the series was scheduled.
Reboot
In 2017, Morgan Creek announced plans to reboot their classic films from '80s and '90s as television series or movies, following the success of The Exorcist television series reboot. Several films in early stages of development include film series Young Guns, Major League, and Ace Ventura.
