Yang Weiqun

Yang Weiqun (born February 1968; Chinese: ) is a Chinese politician who has served as deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region since March 2026. Since July 2026, he has also served as the National Security Technical Adviser to the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Macau Special Administrative Region.

Biography

Yang was born in February 1968 and is of Han Chinese ethnicity. He is a graduate-level degree holder and a member of the Chinese Communist Party. Yang spent much of his career in the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, where he specialized in Asian affairs. From September 2015 to July 2016, he served as Commercial Counsellor (vice bureau-level) in the ministry's Department of Asian Affairs. In July 2016, he was appointed deputy director-general of the department, a position he held until May 2021. He was then promoted to director-general of the Department of Asian Affairs, serving until 2023.

In 2023, Yang became director-general of the Department of Human Resources of the Ministry of Commerce. Later that year, in November, he was appointed a member of the Party Leadership Group and deputy head of the China International Development Cooperation Agency.

In March 2026, the State Council of the People's Republic of China appointed Yang as deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region, while relieving him of his post as deputy head of the China International Development Cooperation Agency. In July 2026, the State Council appointed Yang as the National Security Technical Adviser to the Committee for Safarding National Security of the Macau Special Administrative Region.
