Yahweh's Restoration Ministry
Yahweh's Restoration Ministry is a religious organization based in Holts Summit, MO. Their doctrines are a mix of Christian and Jewish beliefs. Their stated goal is to return to Bible teachings that have been neglected through the centuries.
The ministry was founded in 1999 by Alan Mansager, a long-time minister in the Sacred Name Movement and a presenter on the TV program Back to the Truth, which was seen across the country in the late 1990s.
Their main beliefs include the observance of the Sabbath, the annual Feasts of Leviticus 23, and the necessity of using the original, Biblical names of Yahweh for God and Yahshua for Jesus. They reject anything connected to paganism, which they believe includes celebration of holidays such as Christmas and Easter, which have aspects that predate Christianity. Instead they teach and observe the Holy Days mentioned in the Old Testament such as Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles, to name two.
The History of the Mansagers & the Sacred Name Movement
Alan Mansager is the Son of Donald Mansager a known name in the Sacred Name Movement. Donald split from the parent organization Assemblies of Yahweh (over governmental issues) in 1980 and formed Yahweh's Assembly in Messiah. Donald, along with his son Alan and many others, left that latter organization over an adultery scandal involving a couple of prominent ministers in that group, leading to a split board with half siding with the ministers in dispute. Upon leaving they formed Yahweh's New Covenant Assembly. In the Late 1990s Alan and his father parted ways as Alan disagreed with his father on the Scriptural qualifications for ordaining ministers. Alan formed Yahweh's Restoration Ministry.
The Law
Yahweh’s Restoration Ministry believes that the Bible commands the observance of all laws, statutes, and judgments in both Old and New testaments (except the sacrifices mentioned in Hebrews 9 and ritual circumcision).
Clean Food Laws
Yahweh’s Restoration Ministry practices the dietary food laws mentioned in the Old Testament, also observed by many Jews and Seventh-Day Adventists.
Divorce and Remarriage
A key difference Yahweh's Restoration Ministry has with most other Sacred Name groups is their stand on divorce. YRM affirms that the New Testament does not make provisions for divorce. A marriage between two individuals is for life, with re-marriage allowed on the death of the mate. They believe the Messiah taught an engaged couple can "divorce" or separate if there was fornication by one of the parties during the betrothal or engagement period. Although they allow divorced people to become members of the organization, they do not allow divorced members to hold office in the Ministry.
Headcoverings
Yahweh’s Restoration Ministry affirms that all women in the assembly are to have their heads covered with a type of covering during worship, and that all men are to leave their heads uncovered.
Going to Hell
Yahweh’s Restoration Ministry believes that the Bible does not support an ever-burning hellfire, but that the wicked who are placed in the lake of fire (Gehenna) will be destroyed quickly and completely, and will not burn forever.
