XMRC
:Category: Technology
Experimental Modular Rifle Concept (XMRC) is a major project now currently under development by The Codex Group. The prototype phase will be using standard 6mm ball bearing rounds and CO2 gas as propellant. The finished version will be utilising various types of ammunition with the CO2-propellant system retained.
XMRC A1
- Category: Ball-bearing assault rifle
- Operation: Full-auto blowback mechanism
- Calibre: 6mm
- Length: 800mm
- Weight: 5kg
- Country of origin: Malaysia
- Muzzle velocity: 350fps
The XMRC A1 uses direct blowback mechanism to ensure a stable repetition in the firing rate. The magazine (firearms) feed system will be similar to the Heckler & Koch MP5 magazine (firearms) feed. One of the notable features of the XMRC A1 is the integrated laser pointer embedded in the forestock, under the barrel. One feature in which The Codex Group is working on is the pressure-sensitive pistol grip. Unlike most rifles now, the developmental safety catch can only be disengaged by a deliberate and tight grip on the pistol grip instead of just a firing-rate-and-safeties-on lever. A sideways accessory rail enables the user to mount spotlights and multiple munitions deployer.
XMRC SR1
- Category: Ball-bearing sniper rifle
- Operation: Semi-auto blowback mechanism
- Calibre: 6mm
- Length: 750mm
- Weight: 3.7kg
- Country of origin: Malaysia
- Muzzle velocity: 600fps
The XMRC SR1 utilizes blowback mechanism for maximum speed and reliability in accuracy and power. Ammunition is fed to the firing chamber by means of a single-stack magazine (firearms), which its buildup is similar to the Armalite's M16 thirty-round, double-stack magazine (firearms). The SR1 features an arsenal rail for advanced optic assistance, including telescopic sights, red-dot sights and night-vision attachments. There is also an accessory rail on the under-barrel portion of the forestock, enabling mountings of various add-ons including IR spotlights, laser pointers, bipods and tripods. The sear can only be engaged by a firm and deliberate pull of the trigger, preventing misfires.
Other features include a fully-adjustable cheekpad, pistol grip and eyepiece, to accommodate to the shooter's preferences.
XMRC Lite-50
- Category: Ball-bearing SMG
- Operation: Full-auto paintball mechanism
- Calibre: 6mm
- Length: 500mm
- Weight: 2.5kg
- Country of origin: Malaysia
- Muzzle velocity: 300fps
The XMRC Lite-50 is the SMG element of the Experimental Modular Rifle Concept. It uses fully-automatic paintball firing mechanism for sustained and high rate-of-fire. The Lite-50's magazine housing is located in the foregrip, and its box magazine stores 50 rounds of BB ammunition.
XMRC Hybrid X
- Category: Ball-bearing assault rifle and shotgun hybrid
- Operation: Full-auto (rifle) Bolt action (shotgun) direct blowback
- Calibre: 6mm (rifle) 13mm (shotgun)
- Length: 650mm
- Weight: 3.75kg
- Country of origin: Malaysia
- Muzzle velocity: 420fps (rifle) 350fps (shotgun)
The XMRC Hybrid X1 is an introduction to a new experimental concept, combining two or more varietes of guns into one compact design.
