XiXi Yang
XiXi Yang (born February, 16th, 1989) is an American television personality. She was recently crowned Miss China 2008 Hawaiian Tropic and finished top 10 at the 25th Annual Hawaiian Tropic International Pageant. She has appeared on various popular entertainment networks such as MTVu, BET, Blender Magazine, Rock Me TV, and various others as a host. She is currently a host / VJ for Dance Music TV (DMTV).
Early Life
Yang was born in Nanjing, China, to father Xiaomin Yang and mother Xiaomei Guo. At the age of 6, her family relocated to Tokyo, Japan, where Yang spent the next three years of her life. When Yang came to the United States in 1998, she was already fluent in Mandarin and Japanese. Yang went through series of "culture shock" as a child growing up. She later attributes her out-going personality to her childhood.
In 2005, fascinated by the cultural differences between American and Chinese high school teenagers, Yang published an article in China's Yangzi Newspaper, titled "Comparing Cultural Differences: American and Chinese High School Students". The basis of her studies came from the 9-page questionnaires she passed to 275 high school students in both countries. The article also documented Yang's childhood and the emotional struggles she went through growing up as an Asian-American. Yang's article caught the attention of CCTV, the most powerful television broadcaster in mainland China, for she was one of the first few high school students to publish in Yangzi. Yang was interviewed by CCTV on February 6th, 2004, and received an overwhelming amount of response letters.
In 2007, she graduated from North Allegheny Senior High School and entered New York University, studying mass media communications.
