XBConnect

XBConnect is a tunneling application as a means of playing Xbox LAN games over the internet, that is, play Xbox games over the internet whilst giving the Xbox the impression of playing a local multiplayer game. Any Xbox title that is System Link compatible can be played on XBConnect. Games such as HaLo can be played over XBConnect even though they are not Xbox Live compatible.

The XBConnect staff recommend that you have a 128 kbit/s internet connection to play games on XBConnect, this is because the Xbox is expecting the game to be played over a LAN, which has less lag and larger bandwidth than an internet connection.

XBConnect is a free application with a well developed community, XBConnect has clans and tournaments, but to create a clan you must purchase a "PRO" EDition of XBConnect, details below.

XBConnect works with all Xbox games that support System Link. XBConnect tricks your Xbox into thinking your computer is another system linked Xbox. The Xbox believes it is on a LAN with you computer and starts to send packets of information. XBC grabs these packets (which contain game data) and sends them to another tricked Xbox across the world. In a sense, consider this a Global Area Network (GAN).

Halo 2 is currently the most popular game played on XBConnect followed by Halo: CE,Ghost Recon 2 and Counterstrike.
