Writers' Window
Writers' Window is a site primarily for writers ranging from 5 to 18 to publish their writing and to receive feedback and critiques from fellow writing peers. The site is hosted by English Online, a professional development site for English teachers produced by Unitec New Zealand and funded by The New Zealand Ministry of Education. The site is strictly regulated and only text that is not in violation of copyright or offensive is published.
Regular users
Regular users of the site can register to obtain extra functions such as having their feedback emailed directly to them and being able to participate in online discussions AbOUT their forté, writing. Other features include being able to edit their writing, add chapters to existing stories and let other registered users add to their writing.
Discussion Board
The discussion board allows registered users to discuss ideas pertaining to writing. This way, writers can share opinions, suggestions and writing enrichment games. Users must have a registered account to participate in the discussion board. Anything posted on the Discussion Board must have to do completely with writing and cannot be in the Writers' Window FAQs or guidelines or else it will be deleted by a mod. (A mod is a user selected to have powers to delete threads on the Discussion Board, approve/disapprove information regarding registered writers, approve/disapprove writing, and approve/disapprove feedback to writing.)
Continous stories
Continous stories on Writers Window are for everyone to submit to (if a member) and are added and archived every so often.
Writers' Workshop
This addition includes several helpful tricks for struggling writers, such as a quick plot outline, character development tips, along with proper ways to writing stories, poems, reviews and reports/essays.
Maintenance
The site is regulated and maintained by Raewyn Smith, Anne Girven and several trusted users.
