WQEK-LD

WQEK-LD is a digital low-powered television station that is licensed to Clarksdale, Mississippi. The station is a Cozi TV affiliate, and is owned by DTV America Corporation of Sunrise, Florida. WQEK’s digital signal is broadcast on UHF Channel 18, but is displayed as virtual channel 36 via PSIP.

Although the city of license is Clarksdale, Mississippi, the station’s signal does not reach that city, for its transmitter is shared with Paragould, Arkansas-licensed KPMF-LD, its in-market sister station. The transmitter is located near Brunswick, Tennessee, in northern Shelby County.

History

The station’s construction permit was granted by the Federal Communications Commission for the station as W18EK-D on October 2, 2012. The station’s call letters were changed to the current WQEK-LD on December 7, 2015. WQEK-LD finally took to the air in September 2016 as a Cozi TV affiliate. A total of eight subchannels were launched in its first months on the air, offering multiple digital networks.
