Workshop of Photonics

Workshop of Photonics, headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania, is high technology company developing INSTRUMENTS and solutions for laser micromachining tasks. Since 2007, the company specializing in production of laser systems, accessories and laser processing services: feasibility studies on femtosecond laser micromachining, development of custom femtosecond laser systems and optical modules, small scale production (job shop) in the area of laser micromachining, laser system automation software and custom electronics for laser based systems and devices.

History

Workshop of Photonics is a brand of company Altechna R&D. Altechna Company Group is a Lithuanian private capital leading company group of international photonic and laser research working since 1996. Altechna Group is dealing with research institutions and companies in more than 45 countries worldwide. The main part of company's turnover comes from the export of laser related optics and optomechanics.

Since 2003 company have been carrying out extensive research in the field of femtosecond laser micromachining. In 2011 Altechna Co. Ltd. has separated its R&D department into a separate legal entity – Altechna R&D Ltd., 100% owned by Altechna Co. Ltd. This mature decision was made seeking to establish an independent company for commercialization of in-house developments, utilizing its own and partners‘ intellectual property. The new company operates under the trademark Workshop of Photonics, while the legal name is Altechna R&D Ltd. showing relation to the parent company.

Investor

LitCapital is a capital fund, established in a cooperation with European Investment Fund in 2010 under JEREMIE initiative. Fund size is 25 million EUR and it is aimed at investing in small – medium size enterprises in Lithuania. Investment size into one company ranges from 2 million to 10.4 million LTL.
