  • Deep Impact May 10, 1998 In Richmond, Virginia, at a star party, teenage amateur astronomer Leo Biederman first spotted the comet next to the stars Mizar and Alcor. He sends the picture to Dr Wolf. Dr wolf finds that the comet would hit Earth, but dies in a car crash before warning the Earth.
  • Purple Storm 23 June until 6 July 1998 in New Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok opens while the historic Old Hong Kong International Airport at Kai Tak closes.
