Woodstock Snowball Stand

The Woodstock Snowball Stand is a small snow-cone and ice-cream store located in Woodstock, Maryland. The stand is open from April to October. Most of the employees are students. The Snowball Stand is often seen as a community landmark within Woodstock.

Alongside the 100+ flavors offered, the stand also has a "flavors of the day" chalkboard that highlights an interesting flavor special to that day.

History

The business was founded in the 1930s by Hobart Noll, and consisted of a gas station and store, which were managed by George Albert Humphrey. Around the 1940s, after Humphrey died, Frankie Crum was hired in order to run the store. When Crum went into the military during World War II, the property was leased off to various businesses.

In the early 1980s, two women leased the building and opened a craft shop named The Dandelion Patch. Then a family of the last name Clark rented the store, primarily selling picture frames and making items for Roy Rogers Restaurants. The Clark’s daughter built a small snowball stand nearby.

The current owners, Cathy and Harry Miller, bought the property in 1991.
