On April 6, 2007 Hilario gained his most significant win when he defeated Luis Bolano in a split decision. Hilario's next test resulted in a disappointing draw when he was unable to defeat Juan Carlos Martinez on June 15 2007 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in Saint Paul, on the undercard of the Matt Vanda-Kenny Kost bout.

Hilario and Allen Litzau (brother of Featherweight contender Jason Litzau) are embroiled in a minor controversy, with Litzau calling out Hilario and Hilario insisting that he has already offered Litzau $10,000 for a fight.
