William Klump

William Klump (1862–1944) was a Toluca Lake, Los Angeles real estate developer. A street in Toluca Lake is named after him.

Life

Klump was born in Michigan to German immigrants John Gottlieb Klump and Christina Schaber Klump. He had seven siblings, Wilhelmina, John, Elizabeth, Caroline, Adolph, Albert and George. He married Maggie May Hoansler (1877–1957) in 1892. The couple moved to North Hollywood, then to Toluca Lake, around 1900. They had four children, including Raymond, Ralph, and Marjorie.

Career

Klump was named director of the Bank of Lankershim in 1910. He built a number of homes in Toluca Lake in the 1920s and 1930s, including a 3,746-square-foot residence for his family, having purchased land from the Isaac Van Nuys family.
