William B. Langford
William B. Langford was from Austin, Illinois, was born in 1887 and died in 1977. Suffering from polio as a child he took up golf as part of a rehabilitation program. He attended Yale University and was a member of three NCAA championship golf teams from 1906-1908 Earned a Master's degree in Mining Engineering at Columbia University. He owned and operated several golf courses in the Chicago area and was an avid supporter of the golf industry. Formed a partnership with Theodore J. Moreau and designed numerous courses. Became the first honorary member of the Golf Course Architectural Society of America.
Notable Work
Well-known examples of their work include Lawsonia Links in Green Lake, WI, and Skokie Country Club in IL. His work on Skokie CC was named in 2009 Golfweek's Best Classic Courses at number 90.
