We Are Fiction
We Are Fiction are an English post hardcore band from Peterborough, England, formed in July 2007. The band released a 4-track EP on iTunes in October 2007 and were signed up to Rising Records in October 2008 after extensive touring. Upon leaving Rising Records in July 2009, and with a reputation for exhilarating live shows and a rapidly growing fanbase, We Are Fiction recently released a 6-track, critically aclaimed self-titled EP in December 2009.
History
We Are Fiction formed in July 2007 when the lead singer of former band, Between Broken Ashes, left and Phil Barker joined. Looking for a fresh start with a whole new direction, We Are Fiction formed and played their first show at The Park, Peterborough with We Are The Ocean in January 2008. The band released an untitled EP, which was simply called EP, shortly after. With a solid hometown following, the band quickly began an extensive touring schedule, playing across the East of England with bands such as Khalo and Deaf Havana. After the release of EP, We Are Fiction began work on a mini-album, but with a growing fanbase and a reputation for a knockout live show growing, the band were signed up to record label Rising Records in August 2008, [...] short the band's recording process. With two tracks recorded, Remedy For The Incurables and You Wanna Dance, I Wanna Polka, they were both released for free for fans through MySpace. On 20 October 2008, they were the opening act at Rock City for the Taste Of Chaos tour, playing on the same bill as Atreyu, As I Lay Dying, Story Of The Year and HORSE The Band.
In July 2009, the band and Rising Records decided to part ways. Recording for the new EP began in late August, all paid for by the band themselves. Recording finished, the band released their first single, [...], digitally on 2 November, with the final EP, titled We Are Fiction, released both digitally and physically on 23 November. The record generating positive reviews from online music websites, as well as national magazines, getting an impressive 7/10 from Rock Sound and 3/5 off Big Cheese. More recently, the band have received nationwide coverage through Kerrang! Radio, NME Radio and other unsigned radio shows.
