Waterloo EDC

Waterloo EDC (Waterloo Economic Development Corporation), is a rebranding of Canada's Tech Triangle that represents Waterloo Region, which includes the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo, as well as the townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich. Waterloo EDC is funded by the cities and townships that it represents and is a non-profit organization. As an economic development organization, its mandate is to attract foreign direct investment into the region and provide business retention and expansion support.

Since its inception in May 2015, Waterloo EDC has attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign direct investment into the region. It has been featured in two books, Ingenious: How Canadian innovators made the world smaller, smarter, kinder, safer, healthier, wealthier & happier and We Built This.

Waterloo EDC made headlines for its controversial name and branding, which heavily emphasizes the city of Waterloo, while representing Kitchener, Cambridge, North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot, and Woolwich as well. The launch of the new branding was a marked departure from the terms "Waterloo Region" and "Canada's Tech Triangle".

Waterloo EDC has been published in several newspapers and magazines including the Chamber of Commerce, and Exchange Magazine.
