Warm Gun
Warm Gun (WG) is a Total Conversion first-person shooter and online multiplayer video game for Unreal Tournament 3 by Emotional Robots and is currently in development.
The second coming of the Wild West: the world has progressed exponentially but since the global warming crisis and the Oil depletion of the 21 century we are seeing the second coming of the Wild West. The world has changed dramatically forcing people to revert back hundreds of years both in technology and mentality. Where there was once Law and Order we now have chaos…the scavengers are rampant and Outlaw gangs have formed in order to survive. Gone are the modern transportation methods, cars, trucks, boats & airplanes, they have all become distant dreams. Fuel consumption is a thing of the past and people now use “steam” to power their archaic contraptions into battle. This is a Steam Punk Western, this is the second coming of the Wild West, this is Warm Gun.
Gameplay
Perspective: Warm Gun is by default a First Person Shooter, you see the world through the characters eyes. There will be moments of third person view like when a character mounts stationary object or Gatling gun. There will also be a change in perspective when scripted events occur, mainly the “Fatality Cam” function and vehicle takeover animations.
First and foremost I can’t stress enough about the team oriented gameplay. Warm Gun is all about teamwork, the days of the lone gunman are gone and Outlaws have had to join forces, you see Gangs formed from the most unlikely groupings, demo men, snipers, outlaws and medics all group to form fighting gangs.
Game World
The world is desolate, a lost technocracy that’s regressed back unto itself. The mega structures of the future have all been reduced to striped shells of their former glory. The world is barren and void of any progress; the structures have all been littered with layers of scrap. The environment is dry, cracked and beaten, people have stripped the world of its resources and nothing but kibble remains.
The world will be a decayed dry lifeless ruin. Resources are limited so all the modern buildings have been stripped of anything salvageable, the world will look like a scrap yard. Picture a modern mad max world, only people are not fighting for Oil or what little resources they can find, people are fighting for survival. This is the second coming of the Wild West. The worlds will consist of modern city structures that have been overlaid with wood and shanty like tenements. You will get the feel of classic western settings but the backdrop is a destroyed modern world.
Timeline
2010 – Worlds ecologists predict fuel crisis and global warming status; their cries go unheeded and the world moves forward into the void.
2020 – The Worlds fuel prices peak, the shortage of natural resources is inevitable. The world economy collapses and the oil rich countries are ravaged by war, all competing countries are trying to acquire what little oil remains.
2025 – In just fifteen short years the predictions of the ecologist’s grim fate have come to light. The earth is now striped and [...], what little structure in society remains starts to crumble.
2030 – Lawlessness prevails and the fall of civilized society occurs. The global climate shifts have started to wreak havoc across the world.
2040 – Disease and lack of technology place the remaining global population back into the Dark Ages. The earth has started to cleanse itself and people are dying in huge numbers.
2050 – Only a small percentage of people remain, the world has become vast and lifeless, the once great cities and empires are now a distant dream, and the ways of the modern world have all fallen back. Time as we know it has ceased to be, the human race that was once bent on moving forward has regressed back into the ways long since forgotten.
2055 – The second Coming of the Wild West. Gangs have been formed and the integration of steam power has started to filter into what little population still exists.
2088 – The 2nd Wild West is in its full glory, in just 200 years the world has moved from the savage American west to “modern” civilization and back. It’s now the time of the gunman, gangs and survival. Steam power has been developed to its fullest potential and the outlaws are at large.
