Wantirna Christian Community Church
The Wantirna Christian Community Church is a family-focused church of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia, meeting in the Knox Gardens Community Hall in Wantirna South, a south-eastern suburb in Melbourne, Victoria.
History
Wantirna Christian Community Church was planted in 1992 by a group of Christians from the Box Hill Reformed Church. Based in a Community Hall, Wantirna CCC started with very little in the way of numbers and finances, but today has more than 120 members from multiple nationalities and backgrounds, including Australia, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
The Church's senior pastors are Ray Rus and Glenn Dekker who share responsibilities within the church.
Wantirna has an ACTIVE part in the continued operation of the Reformed Theological College in Geelong.
Programs
Youth ministry
WCCC's Youth Ministry comprises the youth from Wantirna but also many from the Community. Programs include:
- Turbokidz - Turbokidz is the name of the Kids Church held regularly during Sunday Morning Services for Preps to Grade 6.
- WaCCY - WaCCY (Wantirna Christian Community Youth) is for those in grades 4 - 6 and is held on every second Friday.
- Cross Culture - Cross Culture are for Young Adults in years 7 - 10 and is held on every Second Friday night.
- Infusion - Infusion is for Young Adults as well, but for those in Years 11 and above.
- Reverb - Reverb is the monthly Youth Service held on Sunday NiGHTS. The Band is comprised entirely of the Youth of Wantirna CCC and draws many visitors from the surrounding community on a regular basis.
Community services
WCCC has many different programs to help those in the surrounding community, built on the tireless work of the Deacons. Programs included are:
- A Bread Run in which WCCC delivers bread to needy families.
- Time-Out is a program for mothers to take time out from their families for a time of arts and crafts.
