Virtual United States Air Forces (VUSAFS)

The Virtual United States Air Forces, "VUSAFS" for short, is a Military Virtual Airline (MilVA) used on the Microsoft Flight Simulator programs. Currently hosted on FS2004 (FS9) and FSX, the VUSAFS offers a simulated military experience for those around the world. The VUSAFS follow the rank structure of the United States Armed Forces. Unlike some of the similar MilVA groups, the VUSAFS is not strictly Air Force. All of the Armed Forces commands (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard) are a part of the VUSAFS' daily activity.

Structure

The VUSAFS is made up of several different units, called "commands." Each command has its own speific role with the VA.

  • VUSAFS Headquarters - In charge of MilVA operations; Callsign "Fate"
  • Air Combat Command (ACC) - In charge of Fighter/Attacker aircraft; Callsign "Eagle"
  • Air Mobility Command (AMC) - In charge of Transport/Heavy-lift aircraft; Callsign "Reach"
  • Naval Aviation Command, commonly referred to as as Naval Air Command (NAC) - In charge of carrier-based aircraft; Callsign "Tailhook"

Air Education and Training

AETC

The VUSAFS also established the Air Education and Training Command (AETC). The job of AETC is to train new cadets to be a part of their selected command. AETC also trains Air Traffic Controllers, and VUSAFS pilots to become AETC flight instructors. The VUSAFS AETC program also has its own scenery and set of trainers for each command.

Carrier Qualification

The VUSAFS currently offers training on the procedures of landing both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft on aircraft carriers. The fixed-wing and rotary-wing qualifications both have four carrier qualification (CQ) levels:

Level 1

Level 2

Level 3

Level 4

Night, VFR

Multiplayer

The VUSAFS operates on their own fully operated multiplayer servers. Voice communications through a microphone and speaker are used on the TeamSpeak server, while the game participation is on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Multiplayer Server. The server Internet Protocols (IP) can be found on the "Server Info" page of the MilVA.

TeamSpeak Client Software is free for download at http://www.goteamspeak.org
