Virginia and The Bluedots
Virginia and The Bluedots were formed by Virginia Veatch Lawrence. The original lineup consisted of Jon Stern (guitar), Larry Lawrence (bass and guitar), Brian Fisher (mandolin), Brian Quinn (drums), Virginia (vocals, songwriter, acoustic guitar), and Alan Veatch (production). Excluding Jon Stern and Brian Fisher the band remains mostly intact.
History
The band formed and resides in the Washington D.C area, playing such venues as the 9:30 Club, The barns At Wolftrap, and The Kennedy Center. Having toured up and down the east/west coast, Los Angeles, playing in New York, Philly, Little Rock, Memphis,Dallas and Austin TX, and Nashville Tennesee where they eventually did showcases at 12th And Porter for such labels as MCA Records. Sharing the stage with acts such as Asleep At The Wheel, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, Guy Clarke, The Robert Cray Band, Reverend Horton Heat, and Southern Cultures On The Skid, just to name a few.
Releases
In 1993 the band released their debut album "Games Of Love", which featured Danny Gatton on two tracks and consisted all originals songs. It was released on the V-Twin label through Crystal Clear Sounds of Dallas, TX. The band was brought to the attention of music distributor Crystal Clear Sounds by the the Dixie Chicks, who are alumni of that distributor.
Current Endeavors
The band decided to take a hiatus, at which point Virginia decided to continue her studies at NIH Medical Center, while the rest of the band started families. With much of the original lineup still intact, they are currently back in the studio recording and producing a follow up CD to "Games Of Love" with recordings taking place in Austin TX, and Merrifield VA.
