Viola Group
Viola Group is an Israeli technology investment group headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel. Founded in 2000, it is one of Israel's largest and most prominent technology-focused investment firms, with over US$6 billion in assets under management (AUM). The firm operates as a multi-strategy investment house through four distinct investment arms: Viola Ventures, Viola Growth, Viola Credit, and Viola Fintech. Viola focuses primarily on Israeli technology companies, partnering with entrepreneurs from early-stage inception through growth and expansion phases.
History
Viola Group was established in 2000 by Shlomo Dovrat and Avi Zeevi, who co-founded the firm's flagship venture capital arm, originally named Carmel Ventures. The firm was created to address the growing need for institutional-grade technology venture capital in Israel, which had emerged as a significant global hub for technology innovation and entrepreneurship. In November 2017, Carmel Ventures was rebranded as Viola Ventures to better reflect its alignment with the broader Viola Group identity.
In its early years, Viola focused on early-stage venture investments in Israeli technology companies, building a portfolio that spanned enterprise software, semiconductors, and internet technologies. The firm established a reputation as one of Israel's most active and influential technology investors, supporting companies through their growth from startup to global scale.
Over time, Viola expanded its investment strategy beyond pure venture capital to encompass a broader range of investment approaches. The firm launched Viola Growth to target later-stage technology companies, Viola Fintech to concentrate on the financial technology sector, and Viola Credit to provide alternative credit solutions to technology companies. This multi-strategy approach allowed Viola to partner with companies across different stages of their development lifecycle.
Investment arms
Viola Group operates through four distinct but complementary investment arms, each with a dedicated team, investors, and pool of funds. While each arm operates independently, they share access to value-added services, best practices, and insights from across the group.
Viola Ventures
Viola Ventures is the group's early-stage venture capital arm, focusing on Israeli technology startups. Co-founded by Shlomo Dovrat and Avi Zeevi, Viola Ventures partners with entrepreneurs to help transform early-stage startups into category leaders. The fund invests in companies across a broad range of technology sectors, including cybersecurity, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, enterprise software, and consumer technology.
Viola Ventures has backed numerous companies that have achieved significant scale and went public or were acquired, including ironSource (acquired by Unity Technologies), Redis (database platform), Lightricks (mobile creative apps), Outbrain (content discovery), and SimilarWeb (digital intelligence).
Viola Growth
Viola Growth is the group's growth capital fund, investing in technology companies at the expansion phase. Founded by Harel Beit-On, the fund focuses on investing in companies that have demonstrated product-market fit and are seeking capital to scale their operations globally. Viola Growth targets both Israeli companies and global technology companies with significant traction, with investments typically in the range of $20â100 million.
Notable Viola Growth portfolio companies include SimilarWeb, Guesty (short-term rental management), Bringg (delivery and fulfillment platform), and Buildots (construction AI platform).
Viola Credit
Viola Credit is Viola Group's global alternative credit asset manager, offering multi-credit products to growing technology companies. With offices in London, Tel Aviv, and New York, Viola Credit has grown to manage over US$4 billion in assets under management. The fund focuses on supporting the growth of the innovation economy through flexible credit solutions.
Viola Credit offers two main credit strategies: asset-backed lending, which provides capital solutions via asset-backed credit structures for sponsored-backed originators, and growth lending, which offers flexible financing solutions for leading technology companies to support operational growth. The fund operates across multiple geographies, serving technology companies that may not yet be ready for or interested in equity financing.
Viola Fintech
Viola Fintech is a cross-stage venture fund that invests in global financial technology (FinTech) companies alongside leading venture investors. Founded by Daniel Tsiddon and Avi Zeevi, the fund brings together financial institutions and innovative startups to accelerate the modernization and digitization of financial services. Viola Fintech supports both the growth of FinTech companies and helps established financial institutions navigate and adapt to digital disruption.
Unlike traditional venture funds, Viola Fintech operates as a bridge between the startup ecosystem and institutional finance, investing in companies at various stages from early-stage to growth. The fund has backed companies across payments, insurtech, regtech, lending technology, and wealth management.
